DEPARTMENT OF TRADITIONAL EXTERNAL THERAPY

BRIEF INTRODUCTION

The department of traditional external therapy, International school of Mongolian medicine was re-established in September, 2020 and offers undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate trainings along with other departments of the school for the students of traditional medical doctor, traditional therapist and acupuncture doctor programs as well as carries out scientific research and performs professional clinical duties.

Timeline

  • In 1999, the Department of Traditional Medicine was expanded into School of Traditional Medicine with three departments
  • In 2014, School ofTraditional Medicine was dismissed due to MNUMS director’s order and titled as Institute of Mongolian medicine, School of Medicine.
  • In 2016, the Department of External Therapy was re-established under the name department of traditional medicine external therapy.

    Through post-graduate training, we are working on improving the learning environment and clinical-based skills for residential training doctors, and creating opportunities to work in hospitals

  • "Review study of the Eight branches Literature", project "New solutions of Traditional medical theory and practice". Mongolian foundation for Science and technology.
  • "Pharmacological study to determine the antibacterial and anti-viral properties of some traditional Mongolian medicinal drugs and preparations". Mongolian foundation for Science and technology.
  • Innovative research project to experiment and produce "Demon syrup”, “Berbera gel” and cream “Shimt" based on traditional recipes.

Research field: 

The Department of Traditional External Therapy study implements joint domestic and foreign projects and conducts basic research in the following areas.

  • Preventive medicine of Mongolian traditional medicine
  • Food and drink therapy of Mongolian traditional medicine
  • Yoga and meditation, psychotherapy in traditional medicine
